Dr Bryan Barry

Dr Bryan Barry is an Interventional radiologist.

Dr Barry is an Australian pioneer in thyroid nodule ablation using radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and cryoablation. He is also among the first in the world to offer thyroid artery embolisation for volume reduction.

He studied at University College Dublin and completed an IR fellowship with Guys and St Thomas’ Trust, London in 2017. He also completed a Breast fellowship in 2016 with BreastScreen NSW. He has previously worked at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, and with BreastScreen NSW. 

He currently holds appointments at Liverpool Hospital, Sutherland Hospital, Sydney Southwest Private Hospital and Hurstville Private Hospital. He is also a member of the Spectrum Interventional Radiology and Spectrum Medical Imaging team across multiple Spectrum practices.

He is a member of The Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia (IRSA) and of the Interventional Oncology Special Interest Group.​ Dr Barry is a proud member of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) and obtained his European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) in 2023.  

Dr Barry has special Interests in thyroid intervention, men’s and women’s health procedures, Interventional oncology, particularly hepatobiliary intervention and embolotherapy. Diagnostic interests are thyroid imaging, vascular imaging and MRI particularly prostate, breast, and hepatobiliary imaging.
